Wishing all of our lovely guests and their families a very Happy and Healthy New Year. We had a wonderful Christmas spent with a full hotel of the loveliest guests, I know we are biased but all of the cats who stay here are the nicest cats you could ever wish to spend time with and we do feel very blessed to do what we do.

We had a hectic run up to the festive period as we have been undergoing a redecoration. Six of the rooms now have new wallpaper and five of the rooms now have tiled floors in the garden rooms and the ones which over look the donkey barn now have purpose built window seats. We have renamed the Moulin Rouge the Malibu suite as it suits it more now. I will update the website with new photos in the next few days.

The donkeys are all well and were thoroughly spoilt at Christmas with lots of lovely edible gifts which went down a treat! I can’t wait for the warmer weather and longer evenings so that we can start taking them for long walks again.

We would like to thank you all for trusting us to look after your lovely cats and for all the wonderful cards and gifts we received this year. Here’s to another fun year at Hotel Cat.

March Madness at Hotel Cat

We have had another hectic month and loved every second of it. Our biggest bit of news is that we had our inspection from the local council. It has changed this year as Defra are now overseeing the licences so it is a lot more involved. They have implemented a star rating for all kennels, catteries and home boarders and we are very proud to announce that we are the ONLY 5 star rated cattery in the district. We are over the moon and can’t wait for our certificate to arrive.

This week has been full of cats on medication, it’s funny as some weeks it is full of a particular breed or colour and other weeks it’s a high medicine week. We have two guests on thyroid medicine twice daily, one cat with kidney failure who has medicine three times a day, one on atopica and another who is on a combination of herbal remedies to slow her chronic condition down. Added to that three lots of our guests are on feeds six times a day, it’s non -stop!

The donkeys are absolutely loving the warmer weather and are outside most of the day. They all had spring haircuts today and their feet were trimmed so they are all looking very smart. Percy is still loving his walks around the lanes, we are getting further each time and have met some lovely people on route who always want to give him a fuss.

My Marathon training has had a bit of a set back as I strained my hamstring. I  had to cut back on my mileage and have only just started to increase again. We did 16 last Sunday and are hoping for at least 20 this Sunday (Mothers Day!). I am under the strict instructions of a physio now who I see once a week, he is doing a great job of keeping me on my feet so fingers crossed I will get round in one piece.

TV!

A few of our customers know that we have had the TV cameras filming lately. They finished filming today and the documentary goes out in approx. one months time. It’s called ‘For the love of cats’ and is all about the sacrifices that people have made in order for cats to have a better life. We are very excited and extremely nervous in equal measures! The cats chosen for the filming were the bold, attention seekers and they had a ball with the film crew. Sebastian the Silver Tabby is a total natural in front of the camera and was a total star. Pino the Maine Coon kitten was also thrilled to be chosen, along with Willow the one eyed Tiffany cat and Poppy the sweetest little ginger girl who came from a rehoming centre and has now landed on her feet with a family who adore her.

Percy Pinkerton’s paddock is finally being fenced tomorrow and a new shelter for the donkeys is being ordered. Holly, our first ever donkey, has been under the vet this month as she developed a condition called COPD. This is basically a lung infection and we think the most likely cause is her current barn as it is very old and dusty. Those who have been here know that we have an awful lot of work to do on the house, but this is now on hold until the donkeys have dust free accommodation. Everyone who loves their animals understands that they always come first.

We are filling up fast for the summer and September is almost fully booked. If you are thinking of planning a break and would like your cat to stay in Hotel Cat then please give us a call.

Luxurious Cat Suites for a Royal Experience

Our largest, most luxurious suites, the Royal Mews have over 348 sq ft of accommodation – bedroom 13.2ft by 13.2ft and garden room 13.2ft by 13.2,  which gives plenty of space to play, hide, sleep and sunbathe. The suites have single beds with a soft duvet and pillow to snuggle up on, plus plenty of other sleep spots including our luxurious and very popular retro pet nests. Each suite has it’s own TV with a choice of DVD’s. The garden room has a swinging hammock, trees, climbing frames and sun lounger. These two suites have an extra window overlooking our beautiful paddocks where the donkeys play. There are also wrens nesting in the tree right outside the window – cat heaven! Television, radio and many stimulating cat toys and games are provided in each suite.

There is plenty of space for large cat families or just a treat for your adored friend.

Ths extremely large suite is priced at £40.00 per day, with additional cats from the same family costing £10 per guest. The price is all inclusive of heating, insurance, dry food, treats, love and cuddles.

A chic, light beach house style for beachcomber cats

Our Beachcombers suite is decorated in a light, chic beach house style, that provides relaxation and comfort for our guests. The single bed has the soft duvet and pillow to snuggle up on, plus plenty of other sleeping spots.

The garden room looks over the bird garden and is a hive of activity. With trees, climbing frames, hiding places and sun lounger a cat will never be bored. There is a television, radio and plenty of stimulating cat toys and games in each suite.

Suite Pricing

The cat suite is priced at £30.00 per day, with additional guests from the same family costing £10.00 each per day.
