April – Sunshine at last!

It seems unbelievable that a month ago it was snowing and now we are basking in glorious sunshine – You just cannot beat the British weather for diversity!

The donkeys are all very happy and are starting to shed their coats. They adore the sunshine and have spent today sunbathing in the paddock by the cat hotel. It’s so lovely to see all the trees and hedges turning green at last and our first oak tree has just started to show it’s lovely fresh green leaves. Our chickens are starting to lay again and we pick up at least 6 eggs a day, which is not bad for a group of pensioners. They too adore sunbathing and are regularly found spread out on our sun loungers!

We have had a really busy Easter and after a quieter week this week we are flat out again from the weekend onwards. We now have very limited space left from now until the end of October. May has a long waiting list as does the first two weeks of September. We are even fully booked for most of next April (2019). If you do have any dates please do get in touch as we have had to let a number of people down lately which is not something that we like to do.

We have some adorable guests with us at the moment, including two mischievous Burmese brothers. One of them gives the best head bumps and nose kisses and they are terrible time wasters!

The outside of the Hotel has had a fresh coat of paint and looks very smart. We are off to sort the hanging baskets this week so that it looks very colourful too.

Hope all your lovely cats are enjoying the sunshine again too.

Bonfire Night!

With the short evenings and the approach of Christmas it feels like winter is upon us. Today has been a beautiful day and we are busy with tidying up around the hotel. The car park is having a new surface and we are repainting the outside of the building. We have been flat out all year and have a week approaching where we have only opened half of the hotel so that we can redecorate the suites. The two Royal Mews are going to have new wallpaper and I’m off to choose it tomorrow, I have no idea what colour until I see it!

We have a hotel full of our lovely regular guests staying at the moment. I adore all their different personalities, they are all so individual and so much fun. I can’t believe how busy November is and we have turned many bookings away for the last two weeks as we filled up quickly. We have so many bookings coming in for 2018 already and  if you have any dates you would like held the sooner we know the better.

The donkeys don’t much like the onset of winter, they love the sun and their favourite pastime is sunbathing! Cleaning their barn out daily takes so long as they all insist on ‘helping’. Percy is the worst as if you try and carry on working he runs straight between your legs, there is never a dull moment here!

Right, back to the cats. I have a great book on the go and a number of cats who adore me sitting still for a few hours, it’s a tough life but someone has to do it!

August Days

What a gorgeous month August has been, we have had so much sunshine and have loved every minute!

We have been so busy in the Cat Hotel this month, lots of regular faces and a few new ones. We had two Siberian kittens stay with us for three weeks, they were the most laid back boys and so much fun. We have also, finally, had our first Siamese guest, ‘Lady’, she is a beautiful girl and loves to snuggle up on your lap. She has king prawns for breakfast each day and will talk to you for more!

Our new girls Stella and Sweep are loving be able to go outside and are always in the garden. Stella has managed to catch two birds and just this morning I found the pair of them playing with a mouse in the lounge. Fortunately it was still alive so it was taken out to the front garden where it scampered away. Doumy, our old girl, is still going strong and is usually found lying in the sun in the front garden.

The donkeys love this time of year as they love the harvest. They pick the blackberries off of the hedgerows and beg mercilessly for the fallen apples to be given to them. Our damson trees have not had much fruit and what there was has been eaten by the birds, it’s lovely that nothing goes to waste.

The deer are back in our fields and we have spotted one baby, hopefully they will stay as they are safe on our land.

We have a very busy couple of months coming up, but things do ease off in November. We have lots of bookings coming in for 2017 and if you have any holidays planned please let us know as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Back off now to play with my lovely guests, being with the cats each day is so perfect and I feel so lucky that we can do this in such a gorgeous place.

2015

Happy New Year from Hotel Cat!

We had a wonderful Christmas and New Year, spent with the most adorable cats who came to stay. The only sad bit is when they go home as we all miss them so much. The cats all loved their individual Christmas presents from Santa Paws & Mrs Claws and all tucked in to their Christmas dinner of turkey, chicken and salmon.

Now 2015 is upon us we have a variety of new guests coming to stay. We love meeting the different cats, from the exotic to the everyday cat, they are all so unique and fascinating. It is lovely when parents turn up with bagful’s of things from home to help the cats settle, there is plenty of room in the suites and the more familiar things the cats have in their suites the nicer it is for them.

We have had so publicity from the press and have been asked to speak on a couple of radio stations including Today FM in Dublin http://www.todayfm.com/Check-into-Hotel-Cat

If you are thinking of leaving your precious cat/s with us in our hotel and have any concerns about how they will settle, please call us for an informal chat or alternatively come and see us and we will be more than happy to show you around at a convenient time to suit yourselves.
